Educator
Kia ora, my name is Doneice Mackie, I have been affiliated with Te Waka Pareparea Trust since 2020. I am proud to be part of a team of women that is committed to supporting whanau in their journey to connect with their whenua. Te Waka Pareparea Trust delivers a unique program that is dedicated to navigating the challenges associated with Maori Land and the Maori Land Court process.
Diversity of Experiences
My first contact with a Land Navigator occurred five years ago while waiting for assistance from a Maori Land Court representative. The information I sort appeared to be unattainable, & incomprehensible. The Navigator provided contact details for a course on the history of Maori land & the MLC process. The Maori Land Navigation program has been life-changing for our whanau, our future well-being moreover the care of our whenua. Nowadays our focus is on the care & development of our people as much as understanding our past, present, and future goals.
“I walk with my back to the future, to ensure I can see the mistakes of the past, therefore securing our future success’
Originally trained as a Social Worker, & in Maori Business Development with Auckland University. After spending time in Europe, I returned home and joined the Land Navigation program, then Kai Oranga classes. Looking forward to meeting you all, in the near future!
